Tanker Odorizer
Style SS0-8 and SS0-9
The purpose of this
injector is to provide a safe and efficient method for
odorizing tank cars. By depressing the "fill"
button, odorant is drawn into the injector, and an equal
volume of red oil is displaced into the level indicator.
When the correct amount of oil is drawn in, release
the button on the fill valve. The odorant will be injected
into the tank car when the "inject" button
is pushed and held in the depressed position until the
oil level returns to its lowest level. The injector
should always be left in the last mentioned position,
between uses.

Principle of Operation
A double acting power cylinder is connected to
a smaller injection cylinder. As the piston retracts,
odorant is pulled into the small cylinder and an equal
amount of oil is displaced into the level indicator.
When the correct amount of oil shows in the level indicator,
release the button on the fill valve and depress the
inject valve button. This automatically causes the valve
actuator to switch the 3-way valve to allow odorant
to flow from the cylinder through the check valve and
into the tank car. For very large tank cars, more than
one shot of odorant may be required. |
